Aimed at
BPEC has developed this course in conjunction with MCS. The course is specifically aimed at existing practicing electricians, electrical technicians, and engineers with experience of electrical installations, and associated inspection and testing and giving them the necessary training to upskill their existing skills to install EESS.
Course description
The course material has been designed to meet the requirements of dedicated electrical energy storage systems (EESS) in accordance with the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems and the MCS Battery Standard MIS 3012. The installation of these EESS is work that can be carried out by competent, qualified operatives holding appropriate pre-requisite qualifications and the aim of the training course is to ensure individuals have the knowledge and required skills to carry out this work.
Certificates usually valid for 5 years.
Entry requirements
Trainees should hold a forma craft qualification, e.g.:
N/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures)
Or equivalent earlier certification that includes Inspection and Testing
Or a recognised Part P competence certification that includes Inspection and Testing and a BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) qualification
Trainees can also enrol for the course if they meet the requirements of the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS)
Stand-alone technical certificates/vocationally related qualifications (VRQ) (non-competency based) are not acceptable.
