PAS 2030 & MCS Certification Support.
The UK retrofit and renewable energy sectors are built on a foundation of quality assurance and competency-based certification. Two key frameworks; PAS 2030 and the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), set out the requirements for installation, management, and ongoing compliance within the domestic retrofit and low-carbon technology markets.
At Synergy Training Centre, we work closely with our partner organisation Trade Engine to help installation businesses understand, achieve, and maintain certification under these schemes. Our training and consultancy programmes are supported by a fully digital Quality Management System (QMS) that simplifies compliance and allows teams to focus on delivery and improvement.
Whether you are new to PAS 2030 or MCS, or looking to expand into new measures or technologies, we can help your staff develop the practical understanding, documentation, and evidence needed to achieve and retain certification.
PAS 2030 Certification.
PAS 2030 is the BSI’s specification for the installation of energy efficiency measures in existing buildings. It forms part of the wider PAS 2035 whole-house retrofit framework and defines how installers must plan, execute, and evidence their work to meet Government, TrustMark, and client expectations.
The standard applies to all organisations installing measures funded under government or local authority retrofit programmes, such as ECO4, GBIS, SHDF, Home Upgrade Grants and the Government's forthcoming Warm Homes Plan. Certification demonstrates that your company is competent, well-managed, and committed to quality workmanship, consumer protection, and continuous improvement.
Our partnership with Trade Engine provides a seamless route to PAS 2030 certification. Their digital Quality Management System (QMS) ensures that all required documentation, audit evidence, and version control are maintained automatically, saving valuable time during certification body audits.
Through Synergy, your staff can gain accredited CPD and bespoke training aligned with PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 roles. This includes tailored sessions on installation standards, auditing, and record-keeping to ensure the competence of individuals as well as the compliance of the business.

Together, Synergy and Trade Engine provide a joined-up pathway, from upskilling your workforce to achieving and maintaining certification under PAS 2030:2023.
MCS Certification.
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is the UK’s quality assurance framework for renewable energy installations, including solar PV, heat pumps, biomass, and other low-carbon systems. It ensures that products and installations meet defined performance and safety standards and that customers receive reliable, consistent results.
MCS certification is a mandatory requirement for most renewable technology grants and incentive schemes, including the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). Installers must demonstrate compliance not only in workmanship but also in system design, commissioning, handover, and aftercare.
Through Trade Engine’s integrated QMS, installers can manage every aspect of MCS compliance, from risk assessments and installation checklists to commissioning records, handover documentation, and consumer warranty evidence. All templates and logs are aligned with the latest MIS 3002, MIS 3005 and MIS 3012 scheme requirements.
Synergy Training Centre complements this with ad-hoc CPD training to enhance staff capability in areas such as:
Heat pump and solar PV system design principles
Commissioning and handover best practice
Understanding MCS audit requirements and documentation
Data submission to certification bodies and TrustMark lodgement
This dual approach, with practical training from Synergy and compliance management through Trade Engine, helps businesses remain audit-ready, reduce administrative burden, and deliver quality outcomes for clients.
Quality management for continuous improvement.
Achieving PAS 2030 or MCS certification is only the start of the journey. Maintaining compliance requires robust systems, clear communication, and competent staff. Our approach ensures that all training, systems, and oversight work together under a single framework.
Every client company working with Synergy Training Centre gains the benefit of:
Accredited CPD opportunities for staff undertaking QMS preparation
Access to a proven and audit-ready QMS
Practical guidance from experienced retrofit and renewable professionals
Confidence that quality and compliance are demonstrably managed
QMS and compliance tools are provided by Trade Engine Ltd, an independent UK software and consultancy provider specialising in PAS 2030, PAS 2035 and MCS certification support.
