Entry Requirements
Learners must be competent electricians and hold one of the qualifications listed below or other qualifications listed in EAS tables A4.7 and 4.8 routes 1, 2, 3 and BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) qualification
1. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357)
2. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)(2357)
3. Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (5357)
4. Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356)
5. Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services – Electrical Installation (Building and Structures)
6. Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.(2346)
7. Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings
8. EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) – Electrotechnical Installation
9. ECS Gold Card (for domestic electrician), JIB Electrician (Not PAT tester only) or Approved Electrician Card
• Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable
For learners in Scotland: Any of the above or
• SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF level 7 + Up to date BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations
Stand-alone technical certificates/vocationally related qualifications (VRQ) (non-competency based) are NOT acceptable

The course has been mapped and designed to meet the National Occupational Standards for the installation of generally domestic sized photovoltaic systems that are currently available in the UK which are connected to a single phase, grid connected electrical supply under Engineering Recommendation G83/1.
The course price includes assessment and certification and is VAT exempt.
Awareness is provided of connections to 3 phase supplies, but the course excludes any system installed under Engineering Recommendation G59/2.
The objectives of this training course are to enable candidates to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards Environmental Technologies Units:
• ET002SPV ‐ Understand the requirements to install, commission and handover solar photovoltaic systems
• ET003SPV ‐ Install, commission and handover solar photovoltaic systems
• ET004SPV ‐ Understand the requirements to inspect, service and maintain solar photovoltaic systems
• ET005SPV ‐ Inspect, service and maintain solar photovoltaic systems

Photovoltaic systems in context of renewable technologies
How a Photovoltaic System works – principles and components
Design of a PV system
Installation of a PV system
Commissioning and Client hand‐over
Maintenance and Fault Finding
How will I be assessed?
The theory assessments consist of 88 multiple choice questions contained in 2 papers of 44 questions each.
Candidates will also be required to complete a practical assessment.
Where can this course lead?
Electricity Energy Storage Systems (EESS) - 2 full days.
This qualification provides a learner with one of the foundational blocks that are required to gain employment within industry.
