Is this course for me?
This course is aimed at experienced plumbing and heating engineers who are looking to upskill their knowledge of renewable systems and be able to register with MCS to install ASHP’s.
An LCL Level 3 Award in the installation and maintenance of ASHP systems (non-refrigerant circuits) permits you to apply to an approved person’s scheme and MCS to install heat pumps. To be classed as a designer, you will be required to undertake further design qualifications such as the LCL low-temperature heating and hot water systems in dwellings course or a similar approved course.
This course does not cover working on refrigerant circuits; an Fgas qualification is required for this.
Study Overview
You will learn about the different types of heat pumps, how heat pumps work, the principles of selecting the right heat pump, system design options, and legislation and regulations surrounding installations. To ensure you have a thorough understanding, you will also oversee the commissioning, maintenance, and repair of ASHPs.
